Highlight: "Expert Gamer" Contest winners
From July 7th to July 23rd, 2006, gamers from around the world competed in the first annual "Expert Gamer" contest sponsored by ExpoTV.com and GamePro.com. The contest provided an opportunity for gamers to demonstrate their skills by creating original product reviews (also known as videopinions) of the games they love (or hate) and uploading them to ExpoTV.com for their friends to cast their vote. Voters determined the 15 semi-finalists and the winning videopinions were selected by a panel of expert judges. They scored entries on creativity, video production quality, and the contestants' depth of knowledge in the games they reviewed. The five Grand Prize winners received awesome prizes (including a Sony high-definition flat screen TV) and they were featured on ExpoTV's video-on-demand network. You can find entries from the "Expert Gamer" contest here.

New: Embedded Video Search
You may have noticed the "Embedded Video Search" module we added to our blog awhile back (look to the right). It's something that you can easily add to your website or blog as well. For more information, check out the How-To page for the Video Search solution. There's also a Video Bar if you just want a vertical or horizontal strip of videos instead of the entire searcher. Both of these are built on top of the Google AJAX Search API, and that team is always adding new features to improve these solutions. -- Tom Stocky, Product Marketing Manager

Highlight: Friday the 13th
Do you believe in Friday the 13th? I mean, it's just another day right? I've always found that if you really believed in something, you can actually go about making that something happen. You're in charge of your own fate sort-of-thing. Bad things supposedly happen on Friday the 13th, right? So technically, the day really doesn't stand a chance. I mean, if you wake up already believing that you're going to have a bad day, you're going to trick yourself into believing that the day is already bad. And every single little thing that happens, such as spilling your coffee, will be because it's Friday the 13th. So you spilled your coffee yesterday, too. But yesterday, it was because you were clumsy. But today, it's not your fault. It's because it's Friday the 13th. Which, by the way, also happens to be the last day to submit your favorite horror videos to the Google Horror Video Show! Share those videos with us at horrorvideos@google.com to ensure that your favorite video is included. Scour the Google Video site and your own video library - we just might give you the rest of the weekend to do it. We'll show you the first group of terrifying flicks next week and you can start to vote on your favorites. In the meantime, I'd recommend playing it safe this evening - stay home and snuggle up to a good video. Let these get you started: And just in case you're having a really bad day and need a pick-me-up, just follow the link below and hopefully this really cool mash-up will cheer you up. It's just another example of a really innovative user who used Google Video and Google Maps to create something awesome: http://bhendrix.com/wall/Gmaps_GVideo_Mashup_Rendezvous.htmlThink you have an even cooler video? Highlight: Free Music Videos!
What's your favorite music video? Is it Justin Timberlake's new James Bond-ish " SexyBack" or the classic "Thriller" from the King of Pop? Personally, I like the animated music videos from the "Gorillaz" or anything from " OK Go". Music videos really started gaining attention in the 1980s due to the birth of MTV. Creative boundaries are being pushed, more money is being spent, and renown Hollywood directors (such as Tim Burton, who is slated to direct a "Killers" music video) are helming the projects because today, a solid music video can do wonders to an artist's career. Stream a sweet selection of music videos from Warner Music Group and Sony BMG Music Entertainment for free here on Google Video today. And soon, stream all videos from Warner Music and Sony BMG for free. Find your favorites and don't forget to share. New Feature: Advanced Video Search
"Please, sir, I want some more." And more you shall have. Today I'm happy to introduce yet another goody - Advanced Video Search! Advanced Video Search allows you to find videos that contain all, some, or none of the words you specify. This feature also lets you filter your results by video duration, price, and specific genre such as Anime & Animation, Political, and Romance. You also get to decide how you'd like to sort your results, whether it be by Relevance, Title, or Date. So go ahead, be advanced and set your search standards. New Feature: Choose Your Audience with Unlisted Videos
You asked and we answered. With our newest feature, unlisted videos, you can upload videos without making them publicly available in the Google Video search results and share them with only those people you want to see them. Are you a proud new mom and dad? Maybe you want to share a video of the newest addition to your family with grandparents who live an ocean away. Or maybe your college roommate's rendition of "It's Raining Men" was absolutely historic, but he'd hunt you down and destroy you if you shared the video with the world. Or it could be that you're an up-and-coming filmmaker who doesn't want those Hollywood sharks stealing your original screenplay before you get an agent. Now, for all of the above instances, you can just unlist your video and share the link only with the people you trust. Unlisting videos is easy. All you have to do is check the "Unlisted" option when uploading your video(s) at http://video.google.com/videouploadform. You'll then get a unique URL that you can email to anyone you want - and no one else.

This year, the Frankfurt Book Fair's theme is "Literacy." In collaboration with LitCam and UNESCO's Institute for Lifelong Learning, Google has created a resource for teachers, literacy organizations, and anyone interested in reading and education called The Literacy Project. There's a section on The Literacy Project page where literacy organizations and educators can watch and share videos from all around the world. You can also upload your own inspirational, wisdom-ful videos or start your own literacy or reading group!
