Highlight: A "Lost" World of Video

Wednesday, May 31, 2006 5/31/2006 05:48:00 PM

That which may not be:

I've always gotten a kick out of cryptozoology, which is the study of creatures that don't necessarily exist, like the Yeti or the Loch Ness monster. Second only to UFO sightings in their fuzziness, these videos always make me think of those old training and historical videos we used to see when we would drive cross country as a child with my family on the way to my grandparents.

Anyhow, enjoy the videos and do a few searches for UFO's and fantastic creatures yourself sometime! You don't have to believe in them to be amazed by them!

Movie Trailers on Google Video

Tuesday, May 30, 2006 5/30/2006 06:47:00 PM

Are you a film fanatic? I'd say you are if you answer "Yes" to any of the following:

1. The smell of buttery, fresh popped-popcorn is your aphrodisiac.
2. You subscribe to Netflix.
3. You'd bring lawn chairs and a portable DVD player to watch prequels while waiting in line for a couple of hours to watch your most anticipated film of the year (Bonus points if you're that guy that makes the headlines because you brought a tent).
4. You've worn a costume to a movie (and it was nowhere near Halloween).
5. You'd drive a few hundred miles to the only theater in your state that is playing that obscure, independent, foreign film.

Well, film fanatic, this feature's just for you - Movie Trailers now on Google Video.

Adopt Me

Thursday, May 25, 2006 5/25/2006 04:30:00 PM

How innovative are Google Video users? Let me count the ways...

"I thought Google Video could be a great way to help save the lives of countless abandoned dogs, cats and small animals. So I contacted the local MSPCA shelter and volunteered my video expertise once a month to video tape and upload video of animals for adoption to Google Video. I then link the Google Video to the local shelter, and they provide a link from the shelter site."

Innovative (and kind-hearted) Google Video user

Ronaldinho creates, Eto'o scores, Puyol defends, Iniesta constructs, Deco destroys. These are the key elements of Barcelona's champion team. In Paris, they played an impeccable game of football to win their second Champions League title against a worthy opponent, Arsenal, and their goal scoring maestro, Thierry Henry. Barca had to get through 13 games before being able to lift the cup, showing why they were destined to win this year.

Google Video and FC Barcelona invite you to celebrate their explosive Champions League victory with this incredible footage featuring pre-match coverage, match highlights, and post-match celebration.

New Feature on Google Video

Wednesday, May 17, 2006 5/17/2006 11:00:00 AM

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you a shiny, super, brand spankin' new feature on Google Video!

Gone are the days of having to install any software to upload your video. Now it's easier and faster than ever to upload and share videos using Google Video. All you have to do is click on the "Submit your video link" on any Google Video page and in three simple steps, upload your video in a matter of minutes. But here's the icing on the cake, folks. Once uploaded, you can instantly watch, share, and embed your video.

And that's not all. Heard of the movie The Break-Up? Of course you have because it stars our favorite couple - Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston. It's a romantic comedy that tells a story about what happens after happily ever after.

We want your story, too. In the spirit of The Break-Up and National Break-up Day, we'd like you to upload your funniest, most ridiculous break-up videos on Google Video. Have fun, be creative, and tell us what happened post-boy-meets-girl.

Behind the Video: "Cactuses"

Tuesday, May 16, 2006 5/16/2006 05:00:00 PM

Funded by a non-profit organization, this feature length film by the arc2project team celebrates young creativity and free movies!

Writer/Director: Matt Hannon

1) Why did you make this video?

"We wanted to do something different... to explore new ways of producing and distributing feature-length cinema. Cactuses is a story about forgiveness told from a youthful perspective, and the movie was made by youth; 24 high school students trained for three months to become Cactuses' core crew."

2) Who should watch it?

"Anyone who wants to help promote new methods of storytelling and isn't afraid to sit though a feature length drama. This ain't your two-minute web-comedy folks! Go ahead, make some dinner, plug in your biggest screen, and see what a group of 'kids' can make these days..."

3) Money, fame, power - which do you hope this video brings?

"Yeah, well, 'non-profit' and 'money' don't really go together. Power? The power to keep making content is enough for us. Fame? Nah, we just need affirmation. The students involved in this production deserve kudos, so watch the flick and help us spread the word!"

4) What's next from you, the video creator?

"After all the crazy, life-changing hype about Cactuses dies down and we squander our billions of dollars in profits, we have a 50 minute experimental sci-fi featurette called 'Timepieces' all ready to rock. Watch for it! It's like watching Paycheck in a low-oxygen environment. Long live web content!"
